Shedeur's First NFL Start + Myles Garrett's Monster Season | Big Al & CJ Podcast

Episode Summary

Big Al & CJ cover a massive weekend in football — from Shedeur Sanders’ first NFL start with Cleveland, to whether Myles Garrett is having the single greatest defensive season in league history. They break down another tough Buffs loss, what stood out from Vance Joseph’s appearance on their show, and how the Broncos come out of the bye preparing for Washington. Plus: Al’s Thanksgiving must-haves, CJ’s favorite traditions, and their honest take on whether Coach Prime should’ve been in Cleveland on Sunday.

Episode Notes

On this week’s Big Al & CJ Podcast, the guys open with Thanksgiving week — not stories, but their must-haves, favorite dishes, and the family traditions they carry forward. They pivot into another heartbreaking CU loss, discussing turnovers, the lack of offensive identity, and why Coach Prime must overhaul his staff heading into next season. From there, they revisit Vance Joseph’s appearance on their podcast and explain why his relatability and defensive teaching are unlocking another level from players like Nik Bonitto. The conversation shifts to the Broncos returning from their bye at 9–2, their path to the No. 1 seed, and the challenge Washington presents despite losing Jayden Daniels for the year. The guys then go deep on Myles Garrett, debating whether he’s delivering the most dominant defensive season in NFL history. Finally, they break down Shedeur Sanders’ first NFL start, why he fell to the fifth round, the perception around him leading up to the draft, and their thoughts on Coach Prime traveling to Cleveland to watch the game. It’s football, family, and a whole lot of debate — just the way Big Al & CJ like it.

00;00;02;11 - 00;00;16;17

CJ

The buffs drop another home heartbreaker and the Broncos get ready for the commanders.

00;00;16;19 - 00;00;25;12

CJ

Welcome, everyone to the Big Island Siege podcast. It is, Thanksgiving week. It's Thanksgiving week, man. And so I, you know, I come in peace.

00;00;25;16 - 00;00;28;23

Big Al

So do I, man. I mean, so many things to be thankful for. I mean.

00;00;28;26 - 00;00;30;12

CJ

So many things to be thankful for.

00;00;30;13 - 00;00;36;15

Big Al

It's just, it's just a pleasure and a treat, to be able to say that we made it to another Thanksgiving.

00;00;36;17 - 00;00;54;10

CJ

How about that? And, I really appreciate it, man. You kind of set the stage. The big fella set the stage. Earlier. He came into the studio, he was like he was floating, and he was. He had a piece about him that I hadn't seen in weeks, man. And so I'm looking forward to having a fun loving conversation about all things, everything, you name it.

00;00;54;10 - 00;00;58;00

CJ

And we'll even talk a little bit about how you get on on Thanksgiving.

00;00;58;00 - 00;01;05;26

Big Al

Okay. Let's go. Steak. Yeah I you know what man? You know, every year it's changed. But, I'm happy to share that with you whenever you want.

00;01;05;26 - 00;01;11;28

CJ

And by the way, wait a minute. Maybe way to way too accommodating. Man, I don't like me. I don't like, you.

00;01;11;28 - 00;01;14;24

Big Al

Know what's going on right now. I don't want to be more confrontational.

00;01;14;26 - 00;01;18;12

CJ

We should be how you always are. By now, you two dropped at least one F-bomb.

00;01;18;14 - 00;01;20;05

Big Al

No no no no.

00;01;20;06 - 00;01;33;22

CJ

Okay. All right, it is. It is Thanksgiving week, man. But we'll talk. And by the way, I got to give them up the big fellas and props. This dude is one of the, one of the best cooks. Can I call you sir? You call, you cook, you cook.

00;01;33;29 - 00;01;36;08

Big Al

I don't know if I'm a cook either. My home cook.

00;01;36;08 - 00;01;43;02

CJ

I guess. You a home cook. Yeah, but one of the. I'm telling you, man, you my mom, Mary Lou. I thought it was the best cook.

00;01;43;02 - 00;01;46;04

Big Al

Yeah. Oh, she he was. He was fantastic. Along with Dorothy.

00;01;46;06 - 00;02;00;09

CJ

Absolutely. That's exactly right. These women could put it down like no one else in the thing that was amazing about. And this is what you got from. You did a lot of switching in the kitchen. I could see like my brother.

00;02;00;12 - 00;02;17;10

Big Al

You know what? You gotta watch how you say that. Sweating in the kitchen. I'm just saying, you know, one thing about me and Chris that we have in common is that we sat there and we watched. That's right. We sat there and watched and we asked questions and we carried some of those same, same some of those same recipes forward for the whole family.

00;02;17;10 - 00;02;18;21

CJ

So no doubt.

00;02;18;21 - 00;02;41;02

Big Al

Fantastic. I mean, I watched my mom, you know, my mom's favorite meal was, well, the meal that everybody expected my mom to make for Thanksgiving was banana pudding. You know, like a great banana pudding. Yes. What she was really, really known for. And I sat there with her, and we made the banana pudding at least 3 or 4 times before I start making it.

00;02;41;04 - 00;02;55;02

Big Al

So I have that recipe down, and it's just, it's just it just reminds. Every time I go into the store, though, I got to tell you, black, every time, this time of year, I go into the store and I start to do my shopping. I feel like breaking down.

00;02;55;02 - 00;02;56;20

CJ

Yeah. You getting this? That's nostalgic.

00;02;56;24 - 00;03;13;29

Big Al

Oh, my God, I feel like breaking down because I want to say, is this the right cornbread mix? Is this the right way I do this? Or how much money am I going to need? Because, you know, it's always, it's always by feel. It's not by really measurement. So this time of year for me is it's really a great time of year.

00;03;13;29 - 00;03;17;22

Big Al

Reflective. But but but also a bit sad.

00;03;17;24 - 00;03;32;17

CJ

Till I totally get it to, Thanksgiving was. Oh, is always that holiday. It's about. That's the family holiday. You know, there's no pressure, no gifts. You just come as you are. Relax. It's all about eating and watching football.

00;03;32;17 - 00;03;33;04

Big Al

Fellowship.

00;03;33;07 - 00;03;48;21

CJ

Fellowship? I don't even get it. I don't even come out of my PJs, man. I mean, it's one of those days, man, I just love. And here's the thing I gotta say about that before we'll get to some sports and other stuff, trust me. And, and again, we come in peace. So I look forward to a fun, loving, peaceful show.

00;03;48;24 - 00;04;11;24

CJ

But here is the other thing that, you and my brother Chris both took from your from our moms. You guys, like, I could pop up at Big Al's crib at noon on any given day, and there's nothing on the stove or any apparent meal that's been prepared. And within 45 minutes, I could have a 4 or 5 course, six course meal.

00;04;11;26 - 00;04;16;15

CJ

And I'm like, how the hell did this happen? That's classic Miss Dorothy and Mary Lou.

00;04;16;18 - 00;04;25;24

Big Al

That's right, that's right. Whatever you have in your closet, or pantry. We just had it. I didn't know it was called a, a pantry until I got to Colorado.

00;04;25;24 - 00;04;25;28

CJ

Yeah.

00;04;25;28 - 00;04;30;07

Big Al

That's fancy, you know, that's fancy. It was a closet. You know, you had one door that had.

00;04;30;09 - 00;04;32;12

CJ

Because we didn't have pantry. We had class.

00;04;32;17 - 00;04;47;20

Big Al

712 that when you put everything in it that wasn't, that didn't belong on the on the countertop. So, I mean, it was, it was a lot of things that you can throw together to make a good meal. And long as you got your protein rolling, you can make some good things happen.

00;04;47;21 - 00;05;10;02

CJ

No doubt about that. Hey, we'll get to that. We'll have a full breakdown on what's on the Thanksgiving Day menu at our respective places. But, gotta talk about another just, you know, another sort of heart wrenching effort. By the by Colorado Buffaloes, 4217. The final score 21 of those 42 points scored by Arizona State came in the fourth quarter.

00;05;10;02 - 00;05;27;19

CJ

That game was and I. And I'm like, I'm watching the game. And it was nip and tuck. See you had a shot in the third quarter to take the lead. And the bottom fell out with turnovers in scoring position. That was mind boggling. Here's my takeaway I don't want to listen. It is what it is at this point.

00;05;27;19 - 00;05;55;22

CJ

We know the season has been, terribly disappointing for buffs fans looking forward to 2026. But my takeaway and coach Prime echoed the sentiment is there has to be changes in the in his staff. He has to get an offensive coordinator that understands college football route concepts. Except for those types of things. Drives me crazy as I'm watching the game because I'm not clear exactly what they're trying to do with their route concepts.

00;05;55;22 - 00;06;05;11

CJ

That makes reads easy and clean for the quarterback. That being said, just another tough one to to have to digest, man.

00;06;05;18 - 00;06;30;10

Big Al

Yeah. And another thing that, just kept on jumping out on, broadcast as you went back and watched it, so many Colorado players are around the country playing that used to play for Colorado, that, and big time roles and positions in other, in other universities. And it's happening, happened to us again. Well, just last week against Arizona State is going to happen again this week.

00;06;30;12 - 00;06;56;19

Big Al

Kansas State with the running back. I mean, it's just, you just start to see the attrition start to show itself in a different way when you shake down the entire roster. But I think you need to have your guys, if you, want to win the games that you think that you can win. With that being said, you know, the the talent level that we have, I don't think is much different than the opponents.

00;06;56;19 - 00;07;14;26

Big Al

The coaching has not been good. You know, I'm, I'm one call it like it is. Okay? The coaching is just not been good. And I've been saying it for a long time. It's gotta change. It's gotta change, and it's gotta be better. This is not.

00;07;14;29 - 00;07;15;26

CJ

00;07;15;28 - 00;07;31;26

Big Al

This is not the way it's supposed to look when you are big time coaching staff, and you have the kind of personnel that you have, that, position coaches, on this roster, they they're they're supposed to be able to deliver, talented players for you, and it's just not come together in 2025.

00;07;31;28 - 00;07;54;24

CJ

It did not. You're absolutely right about that. And so we'll see as we approach the off season one game left against Kansas State on the road in Manhattan, Kansas. What were you ever I guess Manhattan, Kansas back when we play well I those who gives a damn games that's that program certainly you know got itself together.

00;07;54;24 - 00;08;20;05

Big Al

So Snyder did a good job a great job. Yeah. Coach Snyder did a great job of flipping that program around and making sure that they had the the the toughness that they need to go out and compete. And I think that's what you have to credit that entire organization with is, taking on, the, really the, the identity of their athletic director slash head coach.

00;08;20;05 - 00;08;27;18

Big Al

And as Coach Snyder and I think that he has been, a presence there that's been really powerful.

00;08;27;19 - 00;08;49;13

CJ

No doubt about it. Really turning that program around, in a major league way. So kudos to him. But the bucks wraps it up this this upcoming Saturday. It's a 10 a.m. local time, kickoff against Kansas State to, to finish this thing off. And we'll talk more about that, at a later date. Broncos with the bye week in preparation.

00;08;49;13 - 00;09;16;05

CJ

Now for the Washington Commanders. The Broncos at nine and two right now. This past week with the Broncos off, there was some interesting outcomes in games. Of course, Monday Night Football tonight, there's still a little bit of meat on that, on that bone. But Denver's in great shape as they finished their by. And they're looking forward to the balance of the schedule against the, a team that's been disappointing this year, to be sure, the Washington Commanders.

00;09;16;05 - 00;09;23;23

CJ

But an opportunity for the Broncos to put themselves right in the mix for being the number one seed in the AFC.

00;09;23;25 - 00;09;55;10

Big Al

Yeah. And, you know, we talk about coaches and and always I have a statement that coaching matters. And you know, there's a lot of praise that goes to great players. But in the NFL in particular, coaching really matters. And Dan Quinn did something that he's apologized for. And that's you hear apologized diffusely for. And that's playing his talented young quarterback in a game that had no meaning.

00;09;55;12 - 00;10;34;22

Big Al

And or should I say it at a point in the game that had no meaning and getting him injured for the year. And, Dan Quinn is, being being made to pay for it by, by not having, one of the greatest young quarterbacks that we've seen in the last ten years. And Jayden Daniels, with that being said, the Denver Broncos have to go in there and create an atmosphere of, of of, almost intimidation on that program or should I say that, football, that football club because they have the type of defense that is, noteworthy and can make plays and they have four guys that

00;10;34;22 - 00;10;55;11

Big Al

are in the top 40 in quarterback sacks. On this team, they get to the quarterback without having the blitz. But if you max protect and you start to use extra guys and the protection, the talents of defensive coordinator Vance Joseph have shown, that he'll bring extra pressure just to make sure that he gets his one on ones he doesn't necessarily want to blitz you.

00;10;55;11 - 00;10;59;16

Big Al

What he wants to do is create one on ones for everybody that stand in and block him.

00;10;59;19 - 00;11;30;07

CJ

And by the way, B.J. Vance Joseph was a guest of ours on the Galaxy podcast. If you didn't get a chance to to see it, make sure you go back in archives and check it out. A guy who, again, we know intimately well. And, you know, as I think about, our time with Vijay this past weekend, on the show, I'm just reminded of how, you know, I think one of VJs super powers as a coach, as one has a relate ability, his ability to relate to the players.

00;11;30;07 - 00;11;51;12

CJ

Right? Players love him. They play for him. He understands their challenges, understands the strengths and weaknesses. And I think is one of the best in the business of extracting, like a guy, like like Nick Benito. Right. Who came into the league, you know, as a promising young defensive player. But I don't think any of us projected this kind of.

00;11;51;14 - 00;11;51;29

Big Al

An idea.

00;11;51;29 - 00;11;55;23

CJ

Of the defensive dominance. Well, it did show itself in early in his career.

00;11;55;23 - 00;12;04;22

Big Al

Oh, it sure did. He just didn't get a lot of snaps. You know, I remember, Von Miller in his rookie year and he was outstanding. And,

00;12;04;25 - 00;12;06;08

CJ

He was the second pick of the draft.

00;12;06;09 - 00;12;10;15

Big Al

Yes. He was absolutely. But. And key moments in games.

00;12;10;17 - 00;12;11;22

CJ

00;12;11;24 - 00;12;35;05

Big Al

He was subs. He was subbed out because he was so raw and he would just not have the same discipline that he has as a 6 or 7 year vet. You know, and I think Nick Benito was in the same class. I saw him when he was a rookie get a quarterback sack, and the quarterback sack was in like 1.75 seconds.

00;12;35;07 - 00;12;47;25

Big Al

Now, listen, if nobody if nobody touched you and you had to run and get to the quarterback, that is about as fast as I've ever seen it. Whether it's Derek Thomas, Lawrence Taylor. Wait, wait, wait, von Miller, give.

00;12;47;25 - 00;12;48;16

CJ

Me that number again.

00;12;48;21 - 00;12;52;10

Big Al

1.7. He's got a quarterback sack and like 1.75 seconds.

00;12;52;10 - 00;12;53;22

CJ

So the ball is snap snap.

00;12;53;22 - 00;12;57;22

Big Al

Snap 1001 down the guys on the ground. And so that.

00;12;57;22 - 00;12;59;07

CJ

Quarterback ran right to Nick.

00;12;59;07 - 00;13;23;22

Big Al

Benito. Well you can say what you want to say I saw him in the pocket. The tackle wasn't out of his stance. And it looked like he was, you know, possibly could have been offside because he was so fast and I started telling everybody about it, on, on radio. And I'd have these Denver Broncos sessions where I would talk to the fan base and, periodically they'd have me in and I would tell them that this is the next Von Miller.

00;13;23;22 - 00;13;53;21

Big Al

And everybody went, oh my God, this guy. And I'm thinking to myself, you just don't understand how many people have that ability. I didn't have that ability. You know, you know, I can tell you off of hand the guys over the last 40 years that have played for the Denver Broncos, that had that ability, Elvis Summerville, Von Miller, DeMarcus Ware, and Nick Benito, that's it.

00;13;53;23 - 00;13;56;28

Big Al

I'm talking about guys that are great players that have played here.

00;13;56;28 - 00;14;00;27

CJ

And and let me make sure I understand when you say that ability, the.

00;14;00;27 - 00;14;04;29

Big Al

Ability to attack the line of scrimmage quicker than anybody.

00;14;05;00 - 00;14;06;13

CJ

Okay. So quickness off the ball.

00;14;06;14 - 00;14;19;06

Big Al

Quickness off the ball man. Just straight up quickness off the ball. You just don't see it very often. And I'm a guy that played that position. I was all pro and finished in the top three of Defensive Player of the year, and I did not have that.

00;14;19;07 - 00;14;22;17

CJ

What was your what was then? How would one define your strength?

00;14;22;23 - 00;14;41;01

Big Al

My strength was that I was good with my hands. I was, I could I could beat you on, touch movement. If I touch you, I could, I could create a move, some kind of action that would get you off balance. And I could get to the quarterback. The guys that I'm talking about just run right around you.

00;14;41;04 - 00;14;59;19

Big Al

Like it just doesn't happen. You know, like DeMarcus where beats you that way. Von Miller by the way Hall of Famer okay Von Miller beats you that way. Going to be a Hall of Famer Elvis drummer Bill name probably should be in the Ring of honor. The Denver Broncos one of the greatest pass rushers that's ever played here.

00;14;59;20 - 00;15;22;06

Big Al

Great player. And Nick Benito that's it. And I'm telling you, maybe you can go back 50 years if you want. I, I you just know it just doesn't happen. You know if you get a guy like that one time in 20 years, you were lucky. Just think about it. Kansas City Chiefs, you know, Derrick Thomas. Yeah.

00;15;22;09 - 00;15;30;04

Big Al

You know, we seen, Lawrence Taylor. How many, how many more guys have they compared to Lawrence Taylor since Lawrence Taylor? None.

00;15;30;06 - 00;15;32;27

CJ

Well, there's one now and we'll talk about him a little later.

00;15;32;28 - 00;15;59;03

Big Al

But but he I mean there's, there's not there's not a guy that beats a tackle off the snap of the ball. It just doesn't. And I'm telling you. So it's it's one of the, you know, it's one of the rarest things that I've ever seen in football. And for it to happen for us now four times, four times with four separate players, with DeMarcus Ware and Von Miller playing together on the same team.

00;15;59;05 - 00;16;07;01

Big Al

Man, it's just it's just you just you just don't you just don't see it. Nick Benito is that guy. He. And once you see it, you'll never unsee it.

00;16;07;03 - 00;16;31;00

CJ

Now he's special to be sure. And on that note, as we talk about defenders this past week, man, I think I'm beginning to see a little bit of a shift in the league. You know, it's a shift that balances things out a little bit more. This has been such an offensive league, all the rules. You had to be able to score points.

00;16;31;00 - 00;16;59;26

CJ

You had to be able to do all those things. I've seen three absolutely dominant defenses in the past. That, to me, is making me look at, you know, perhaps what direction the league is going. But certainly teams with the way the Houston, Texas dominated with almost zero offense, the way they dominated that game last Thursday against the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen was noteworthy.

00;16;59;26 - 00;17;10;26

CJ

And then we we've been talking about the Denver Broncos and what they've done all year on the defensive side of the ball. And I don't I got to tell you man, this is arguably the worst. Certainly one of the worst teams in the league.

00;17;10;26 - 00;17;11;23

Big Al

Cleveland oh.

00;17;11;23 - 00;17;14;19

CJ

My goodness man Cleveland defense yesterday.

00;17;14;19 - 00;17;24;03

Big Al

Ten sacks I knew you were going to I knew you had. If you if you've been paying attention to quality defense you got to say at the Cleveland Browns or in that category when.

00;17;24;03 - 00;17;43;06

CJ

You can rush the passer the way all of those teams do it, it's just a game changer. It's what neutralizes or at least equalize the opportunity for a team to win. When you have great quarterbacks like the the, the Kryptonite for a great quarterback is a great pass rush wit for a guy.

00;17;43;06 - 00;17;43;27

Big Al

Yes, yes.

00;17;43;27 - 00;18;14;27

CJ

It's a great quarterback. Can be pressure if you have to compromise the back end of your defense by bringing extra bodies, right. But if you can get and by the way man, I'm going to make a statement and and I know you're going to agree with me because it's just right. Unless you just want to be argumentative. I think we may be witnessing the single greatest defensive performance in the history of the national football game for a single season, and that's what Myles Garrett is doing right now.

00;18;14;28 - 00;18;40;03

CJ

I have never seen a guy so consistently destructive on the defensive side there. I mean, he was probably doubled at least 80% of the snaps. The pass plays yesterday against the the Raiders. And they just couldn't stop him. The guy I've never seen a more dominant defensive season in the history of the league than what he's he has 18 sacks in 11 games man.

00;18;40;03 - 00;18;45;15

Big Al

Yeah it's a it's a it's a huge number to say that it's the most dominant that I've ever seen.

00;18;45;16 - 00;18;49;10

CJ

The most dominant.

00;18;49;13 - 00;18;55;02

Big Al

I'd say I'd say it's it's up there. But I mean, I haven't really given it much thought about the most dominant. Well, you.

00;18;55;02 - 00;18;57;17

CJ

Need to start the defense. Your defensive end. You need to start.

00;18;57;17 - 00;19;04;22

Big Al

Thinking about what I'm thinking about it. I mean, we had a cornerback for the Denver Broncos to win it last year. So certainly it wasn't last year for defensive linemen.

00;19;04;25 - 00;19;08;22

CJ

I'm not even talking about for defensive linemen, I'm talking about for a defensive player.

00;19;08;22 - 00;19;34;11

Big Al

I'm just saying. So a guy that could absolutely wipe away your whole, like you're saying, like Aaron Donald, you saying Reggie White, you're saying Bruce Smith. Is he in that category? Yes. Right now he is with with six games left to go, he's going to crush that record.

00;19;34;14 - 00;19;36;13

CJ

Lawrence Taylor, he had great defenders.

00;19;36;19 - 00;19;43;01

Big Al

But but the thing that the other guys had is that it was coordinated well enough where they got winds out of.

00;19;43;01 - 00;20;08;29

CJ

It. See that? No, that's that's that's an interesting point you make if you're going to hold Myles Myles Garrett to that standard where the fact that his franchise year in year out one of the worst to ever do it. His defensive productivity isn't translating into wins. You know it's football I don't know that you can hold him to that said he's not a quarterback.

00;20;08;29 - 00;20;14;19

Big Al

Yeah, but but there's a way that there's a way that you play defense.

00;20;14;21 - 00;20;16;09

CJ

That.

00;20;16;11 - 00;20;51;06

Big Al

Can be looked at as a selfish, a selfish moment, selfish style. And if that is the case, then you will yield more numbers. I don't believe he plays like that. But I'm telling you, if there was, there have been several guys that have played the game and played it for numbers, and the guys that have played it for numbers have got numbers in quiet circles, it was disregarded because.

00;20;51;08 - 00;20;51;19

CJ

It got.

00;20;51;19 - 00;21;05;13

Big Al

Numbers, got numbers, and you didn't play the game the right way. Like Michael, straight hands, 22nd sack. How many guys have looked at that and said, that's a bunch of bullshit. Number five fell down. How many guys have how many guys?

00;21;05;14 - 00;21;06;09

CJ

I've. I've heard that.

00;21;06;09 - 00;21;23;16

Big Al

You know what I'm saying. But but he got to 21, so that should have been you. You know, he plays left defensive men with 21 sacks. That's that's a that's a that's a great season. That's not a good season. That is one of the greatest seasons ever because it came from a left defensive end.

00;21;23;16 - 00;21;23;25

CJ

Yeah.

00;21;24;02 - 00;21;36;20

Big Al

So I know the 22nd sack was you know it was looked at as a gift. But I also look at the 21 and think damn that numbers huge for a left defensive end.

00;21;36;21 - 00;21;53;17

CJ

Well, and here's the other thing about Myles Garrett. And it's interesting because we saw it play out in the game yesterday. Here's a guy who almost never plays a game with a lead right. And so times are dropping back. He's getting and you're big on on sack opportunities right. Yeah.

00;21;53;17 - 00;21;54;21

Big Al

So yes I thought.

00;21;54;21 - 00;22;15;16

CJ

Well more yes. He never gets the benefit of playing with the lead. He was so giddy in this postgame press conference because he said, man, we had a lead like the and you can see just the energy behind, you know his get up because he knew that the Raiders had to throw the ball and that he was going to be able to bend his ears back and go get it.

00;22;15;18 - 00;22;48;09

CJ

And by the way, we jumped right into, the subject of Myles Garrett, because, again, I think we could very well be witnessing the single greatest season for a defensive player in the history of the league. That said, the Cleveland Browns beat the Vegas Raiders 2010. Two teams coming into a game two and nine. And yet it was the lead story on just about all the sports shows today because of one guy should do a Sanders.

00;22;48;09 - 00;22;50;01

Big Al

Yeah he had a fantastic game.

00;22;50;01 - 00;23;12;19

CJ

And and again I solid solid game solid. And if you're grading him on the curve of rookie quarterbacks it is as good as what we've seen right? I mean there's a lot of hoopla around the kid who's Jaxson Dart who's been up and down had some moments. Obviously the first pick of the draft is a guy that, shows a lot of promise.

00;23;12;26 - 00;23;33;06

CJ

But rookie quarterbacks are are looked at not just because of, outcomes in wins, if you will, but you see things and, and I, I've always said I thought shadow was the best quarterback in the draft. In a way it just. And this and this is not a a complete picture that's been painted yet to be sure.

00;23;33;08 - 00;23;57;13

CJ

That said, in one game I've seen what I've known we would see from this kid that I still don't get. Maybe I do, but for the sake of this conversation, I still don't get what all those teams in NFL didn't see to allow this kid to slip to the fifth round at a quarterback position that has so much value in this league, I.

00;23;57;14 - 00;24;02;12

CJ

I'm still like, what? Like what the hell, man? Make it makes sense.

00;24;02;14 - 00;24;05;10

Big Al

Well.

00;24;05;12 - 00;24;27;14

Big Al

I don't I just I just don't know I just don't know how much you really want to know about what I've heard. But we will we'll talk about it off the air some. And maybe we'll bring it on air. Some other time. But it had nothing to do with his talent. It was, Well, some of it, you know, I can bring this to the floor.

00;24;27;14 - 00;24;49;29

Big Al

Some of it was put out there at the beginning of training camp. It's about the teams that he didn't want to play for. Okay. And so you basically. And so let's just say that there let's just say that there are 16 teams that have their quarterback at least have their quarterback. Okay. Let's just say that the Tennessee Titans was going to go with war.

00;24;50;01 - 00;24;56;04

Big Al

Okay. So that's 17 okay. So that leaves you now with

00;24;56;06 - 00;24;56;21

CJ

15.

00;24;56;21 - 00;25;19;26

Big Al

Teams right 15 teams okay 15 teams. And you're telling people who you don't want to play for okay okay. So that that narrows that, you know, that narrows that pool down. And once you tell once you tell a team that you don't want to play for them, like, you know, Seedorf said something in this post game yesterday that I thought was kind of telling.

00;25;19;26 - 00;25;42;04

Big Al

He said, you know, I got passed on by every team at least five times. And I thought to myself, well, for a fact, we know you didn't want to play behind Lamar Jackson in, Baltimore like you wanted to go play. So that eliminates so you can't say you there were 32 team, 31 teams that pass on you five time.

00;25;42;06 - 00;25;45;10

Big Al

That team was never going to take you because you didn't want to play behind Lamar Jackson.

00;25;45;10 - 00;25;45;29

CJ

Well let's.

00;25;45;29 - 00;25;54;26

Big Al

Listen. Well, I'm just saying I'm just I'm trying to get to I'm just trying to get to it so that you understand the mentality behind some of the teams that may have passed on him five times.

00;25;54;26 - 00;25;56;13

CJ

Well, here's what I'd say.

00;25;56;19 - 00;26;05;25

Big Al

I don't know how many. I don't know how many of those teams were part of that conversation.

00;26;05;28 - 00;26;17;05

CJ

Listen, I hear what you're saying, and I think I think you're touching on a point. I think you're touching on a data point. But in my opinion, missing the broader point.

00;26;17;06 - 00;26;18;15

Big Al

No, I'm not.

00;26;18;17 - 00;26;20;01

CJ

Well, I think you are.

00;26;20;03 - 00;26;21;18

Big Al

Well, I'm telling you, I'm not.

00;26;21;20 - 00;26;25;23

CJ

Well. One of us is right. And one of us is wrong. And I and I think I'm right. And I'm gonna tell you.

00;26;25;23 - 00;26;28;11

Big Al

You're usually wrong, and you're you're wrong right now.

00;26;28;11 - 00;26;43;19

CJ

So you wrong again about that. But here, here is here's the point. There was a certain bravado. There was a personality. There was a, a standing that this kid obviously had the nerve to say something like that.

00;26;43;22 - 00;26;45;00

Big Al

But it's been said before.

00;26;45;01 - 00;26;46;00

CJ

Of course it's been said.

00;26;46;00 - 00;26;49;08

Big Al

I mean, we had we had Eli Manning saying he would never play for the Chargers.

00;26;49;08 - 00;26;50;26

CJ

Listen, it's been said.

00;26;50;29 - 00;26;59;02

Big Al

It's been said several times about where guys wanted to play versus or did not want to play versus, you know, what they wanted to play.

00;26;59;02 - 00;27;21;10

CJ

Here's what teams doing. You know this better than anyone else in the situation like this. If a team had to do a Sanders on their board, regardless of what was said about how we interviewed at the combine or what he said about or his dad said about, what teams you wanted to play for. If I'm a quarterback, any needy team, and I see that talent, I'm going to have a conversation with them.

00;27;21;12 - 00;27;42;28

CJ

Look, you do it. We have you here on our board. We want to draft you. We want to make sure that this is a place you want to be. Mike. I can guarantee you he would have said he would not have said. Don't draft me to anybody. It's it's one thing pre-draft. It's a different deal when someone says, we're going to invest in you to be our guy because we believe that you have that kind of stuff.

00;27;43;02 - 00;28;05;29

CJ

And here's how it's playing out. Here's how it's playing out. Not only was, in my opinion, not only I'm not sure if it's an opinion anymore, it's just playing out as it is. Not only was should do a better quarterback than Dylan Gabriel, but the things that teams were kind of backing him for. Thus the suggestion that perhaps he's selfish, the the.

00;28;05;29 - 00;28;06;28

Big Al

Project selfish.

00;28;07;02 - 00;28;08;04

CJ

Selfish like he.

00;28;08;04 - 00;28;09;04

Big Al

Said that he was self. Well, I.

00;28;09;04 - 00;28;15;29

CJ

Mean, you heard people talking about he's a me guy, right? I don't want to play for that team or I don't want to do that.

00;28;16;01 - 00;28;17;25

Big Al

But with that coming from his camp.

00;28;17;27 - 00;28;28;07

CJ

No, no, no, I'm saying that's that was the perception. And what I'm saying to you is one of his, I think super qualities is how he galvanized guys in the locker room.

00;28;28;07 - 00;28;30;01

Big Al

Yes. How guys are. Yes.

00;28;30;02 - 00;28;48;11

CJ

Rooting for him. They like the guy. They love being around him. It's the type of thing, the quality you want in a quarterback. Those were all the things that he possessed as the starting quarterback at the University of Colorado. Well, I'm saying if you just watch the guy that's a quarterback that you want, I believe that there were listen, I'm just put it out there.

00;28;48;11 - 00;29;09;26

CJ

There was a an effort for teams that needed quarterbacks. The league said, hey man, we're going to we're going to show this guy in this family that they don't run the National Football League because there is no way on God's green earth that this talent falls to the fifth round. Otherwise no way, no how. And he ends up in Cleveland.

00;29;10;02 - 00;29;16;28

CJ

Now, I guarantee you, I guarantee you, Cleveland wasn't a desired destination for should do ascend.

00;29;16;28 - 00;29;42;05

Big Al

Not with not no no not when you look at Deshaun Watson in a guaranteed contract you start looking at Joe Flacco coming back and then them drafting Dillon Gabriel before him I mean that is not that is not ideal for him. No. But somebody in the organization made the call. We know it wasn't Steph. Kevin Stefanski okay.

00;29;42;09 - 00;30;07;16

Big Al

He has not been a fan of solder. At all. But this reminds me of a situation that happened, around the National Football League not long ago. And that situation happened with Tim Tebow. Tim Tebow was a, he was just a lightning rod of, of opinions, about who where should he play? When should he get in?

00;30;07;18 - 00;30;37;16

Big Al

Is he a winner? Is he the starting quarterback? And and all of those conversations made every team uneasy, including our very own Denver Broncos here in the Mile High City. So much so that, going into Tim Tebow's, training camp after he won a playoff game against the, Pittsburgh Steelers, John Elway was asked, was Tim Tebow going to be the starting quarterback in the following season?

00;30;37;18 - 00;31;00;12

Big Al

And he said, John said he's going to be, he's going to open up the, training camp as a starting quarterback. He didn't say he was going to be the starting quarterback, because there is a style that he played with that was not really an NFL style, but his popularity and the the, the drama he created on a national stage was just too big.

00;31;00;12 - 00;31;17;12

Big Al

It was just too big. And teams don't usually want to happen. They don't want those type of personalities or instances around them as they're trying to build the football community. They just don't want it, not now. And to carry some of that with him.

00;31;17;14 - 00;31;17;25

CJ

You know, I mean.

00;31;17;26 - 00;31;19;09

Big Al

He's got a production team.

00;31;19;11 - 00;31;26;12

CJ

Hold on, hold on. Okay. You you made the case. Okay. Major comparison. You know, I love you like a brother, right?

00;31;26;15 - 00;31;34;15

Big Al

Yeah, yeah. I'm not. I'm not saying that he's in the same category as Tim Tebow. And I'm not telling you he plays the quarterback position like Tim Tebow. You don't have much better quarterback.

00;31;34;16 - 00;31;35;02

CJ

You don't have to.

00;31;35;02 - 00;31;45;09

Big Al

Tell me that much better quarterback. But I'm just telling you that the the machine that's around those two have the same energy. And not every team likes that.

00;31;45;11 - 00;31;56;03

CJ

Yeah. Go ahead okay. Again you know I love you like I was with anybody know I love this guy like no other, right? I mean he's my guy. I mean, we've cried together before, right?

00;31;56;03 - 00;31;57;15

Big Al

He cries out several time.

00;31;57;18 - 00;32;07;24

CJ

And, a lot of times I'm just there for support. But that may have been the single most asinine comparison you've.

00;32;07;26 - 00;32;16;02

CJ

And I say that and and like. Yeah, I let him love what and why. Because I've heard people make that comparison before.

00;32;16;09 - 00;32;17;23

Big Al

I've never heard that comparison.

00;32;17;23 - 00;32;22;24

CJ

Actually I've heard the, the circus, the the attention that that's paid to.

00;32;22;24 - 00;32;25;26

Big Al

Have you ever heard of it, like putting in comparison to Tim Tebow?

00;32;25;26 - 00;32;27;07

CJ

Yes. In comparison to Tim Tebow.

00;32;27;13 - 00;32;28;11

Big Al

You have heard that before.

00;32;28;13 - 00;32;39;15

CJ

But here's the here's the here's the why, the here's why the comparison is so ridiculous. Tim Tebow couldn't play quarterback according to TMZ. I know, but that is said.

00;32;39;15 - 00;32;43;07

Big Al

That this is I told you said there is a much better quarterback.

00;32;43;07 - 00;33;00;14

CJ

But once you come to that conclusion, then the comparison falls completely apart. It had nothing if Tim Tebow, if Tim Tebow had the skill of doing Sanders, he would have been the first pick up the draft and would have been, still playing in the National Football League, still.

00;33;00;14 - 00;33;01;10

Big Al

Playing right now.

00;33;01;10 - 00;33;18;19

CJ

But that's should do a Sanders is a NFL quarterback. Tim Tebow was a project that teams whoever bought a man tried to had to figure out how to use him. That's not the case with this guy. And so, please, man, for God's sake, I know it's Thanksgiving week, man, but stop making.

00;33;18;21 - 00;33;27;07

Big Al

Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait. I'm not talking about the player. I'm talking about the campaign around the player.

00;33;27;07 - 00;33;41;27

CJ

But the candidate, if you want to put it in the context of a campaign, you got one candidate that actually knows the law and the policies, and you got one who has no clue. That's what matters. That's the only thing that matters, that the campaign is what they.

00;33;41;27 - 00;33;42;19

Big Al

Go with.

00;33;42;22 - 00;33;44;01

CJ

What the campaign is it?

00;33;44;02 - 00;34;08;11

Big Al

What the hell did we just do just now? They what? Listen, we're talking about football. We're talking about exactly. We're talking about grunts. Okay? Guys who spend their waking days and moments in dark rooms with a with with the clicker going backwards and forward, trying to find every little bit of information that gives them an advantage. This is.

00;34;08;11 - 00;34;09;10

CJ

This is this.

00;34;09;10 - 00;34;41;04

Big Al

Is this is the most secretive organization as far as leagues go, that you can imagine that. Yeah, they don't share draft information. They don't share game plans. They don't share, analytical data. Yours is yours. Mine is mine. And that's it. So to think that they would want to have somebody that amps up that, that, that, that, that, that, that profile is crazy.

00;34;41;04 - 00;35;02;27

Big Al

That's that's asinine. It's just not what this league is about. This league is about hey, Tom Brady, you know what? Tom Brady shows up to work. Hey, he's good. He says, say, let's go. Let's go in there and shake hands and go out there and rip your ass apart, okay? It's done quietly. It's not done loudly.

00;35;02;27 - 00;35;03;14

CJ

00;35;03;17 - 00;35;12;29

Big Al

And so that's what this league is about. And after the game, you give your opponents credit, even though you think in your in the back of your mind, they suck.

00;35;13;04 - 00;35;14;00

CJ

Listen, man.

00;35;14;00 - 00;35;16;14

Big Al

That's that's what the league wants. This league is.

00;35;16;14 - 00;35;28;20

CJ

About making money, okay? This league is about entertainment. This league is about TV ratings. This league is about selling paraphernalia. You're selling this. This league is a cash.

00;35;28;23 - 00;35;31;10

Big Al

Cow, right? And they and they have their favorites.

00;35;31;12 - 00;35;32;00

CJ

That's exactly.

00;35;32;00 - 00;35;36;02

Big Al

Okay. The league itself has its favorite list of athletes.

00;35;36;02 - 00;35;38;25

CJ

Absolutely. Absolutely. They like guys.

00;35;38;25 - 00;36;03;14

Big Al

Current former and future that they're looking at okay. That that are that that are current currently playing okay that have played in the past and those that will come into this league in the future. Those have all been highlighted. And that's how these guys get slotted to become, you know, franchise quarterbacks and franchise players. And once they get to that level, you know it's accepted and appreciated and they move those guys forward.

00;36;03;14 - 00;36;13;21

CJ

So what you're saying is there is a cultural acceptance of what defines what an NFL quarterback is, not a culture.

00;36;13;21 - 00;36;14;08

Big Al

No, no.

00;36;14;08 - 00;36;14;27

CJ

It is.

00;36;14;27 - 00;36;17;08

Big Al

That no, no it's a stereotype. It's a it's.

00;36;17;08 - 00;36;30;24

CJ

Okay. Same difference. I'm okay. You don't fit the mold then you're not you're not, you're not. You can't be put in a box as quote unquote how we define because we're talking about the quarterback position.

00;36;30;24 - 00;36;52;25

Big Al

Right, man. And when I start talking about we also talking about how it's leveraged, how the quarterback position is leveraged in the league. The league wants a quiet, unassuming, you know, you know, killer quarterback that they can grow a league around. That's what they.

00;36;52;25 - 00;37;09;14

CJ

Want. So what if you are a loquacious. Sort of character type quarterback who produces the same as your quiet, unassuming quarterback? Is he less accepted in the league?

00;37;09;15 - 00;37;11;07

Big Al

Yes.

00;37;11;09 - 00;37;13;20

CJ

Despite the. So you would rather take a bump?

00;37;13;21 - 00;37;17;10

Big Al

I didn't say me. I don't don't don't don't put this shit on me. I'm just telling you what's happening.

00;37;17;10 - 00;37;18;01

CJ

Well, you're defending you.

00;37;18;03 - 00;37;21;17

Big Al

I'm not. No, I'm just saying I'm just. I'm not defending nothing. I'm just telling you what it is.

00;37;21;17 - 00;37;22;01

CJ

Well, okay.

00;37;22;08 - 00;37;26;25

Big Al

There's no there's no reason why Lamar Jackson shouldn't be the face of the NFL.

00;37;26;27 - 00;37;30;14

CJ

Well, in some in some circles, he kind of who's the face of the NFL Patrick.

00;37;30;14 - 00;37;32;28

Big Al

Mahomes he's the he's the champion.

00;37;32;28 - 00;37;34;06

CJ

Right. And he's earned that.

00;37;34;06 - 00;37;40;21

Big Al

He's earned his way okay. Where's Lamar Jackson in this conversation. Oh he's a three time MVP.

00;37;40;21 - 00;37;42;17

CJ

He's up there where the market is.

00;37;42;17 - 00;37;46;21

Big Al

Yeah I haven't seen him in many national commercials I haven't seen him.

00;37;46;26 - 00;37;48;12

CJ

Oh yeah I've seen him. Yeah.

00;37;48;12 - 00;37;49;24

Big Al

But the thing is.

00;37;49;26 - 00;37;51;27

CJ

This again now I think.

00;37;51;27 - 00;37;53;12

Big Al

That I'm telling you that all the way down.

00;37;53;12 - 00;37;55;11

CJ

To making my point in a way, you.

00;37;55;14 - 00;37;57;08

Big Al

I think. Okay, well, maybe we're making the same point.

00;37;57;08 - 00;37;57;20

CJ

There's an.

00;37;57;20 - 00;38;06;05

Big Al

Acceptance. The door comes with, consider comes with extra, and it's not on their schedule. It's not what they want. And I'm telling.

00;38;06;05 - 00;38;08;18

CJ

You, what's the extra like is that.

00;38;08;18 - 00;38;13;00

Big Al

It's a production team. It's no different in I hate to do this, man. I hate to do.

00;38;13;00 - 00;38;13;26

CJ

This, but I hate to do it.

00;38;13;26 - 00;38;24;11

Big Al

Just do it. I'm not I hate to do this, but I'm going to put it in the same context, okay? And and I know this is much different. Okay. But it's the same context as a Michael. Sam. Okay.

00;38;24;13 - 00;38;25;08

CJ

Oh, damn. Here we.

00;38;25;08 - 00;38;39;09

Big Al

Go. Now I'm, I'm I'm going to say it, okay? I'm going to say this. Okay. Michael. Sam had a show that he was getting ready to produce and put on Oprah Winfrey's network. Do you remember this?

00;38;39;12 - 00;38;39;24

CJ

Oh, yeah.

00;38;40;01 - 00;39;01;10

Big Al

Okay. It was a big time deal for Oprah Winfrey's network. It was a big time deal for Michael Sam. The NFL quietly told him, let's not do this, I get it. You see, I'm saying like, we don't want this, let's not do this. And then, you know, Michael, Sam, I think, acquiesced to it. And said, okay, we're not going to do it.

00;39;01;13 - 00;39;14;08

Big Al

And let's, let's, let's back off of it, okay? You don't make the team now. You're not going to make any team now. And you're out the league that that's this, this is this is the quiet. This is the quiet.

00;39;14;10 - 00;39;18;07

CJ

Johnny Manziel wasn't the very quiet guy coming into the league. No, no. But he didn't.

00;39;18;07 - 00;39;35;20

Big Al

Have a production team C.J I'm talking about team I'm talking about when I when I say Michael say I'm I'm saying the production team that was going to come with him Tim Tebow comes with a production team. Should Sanders come with a production team. So these production teams are not wanted or welcome around NFL circles. You know what?

00;39;35;20 - 00;39;40;18

Big Al

You know what the most hated part of the NFL? Me let me tell you something.

00;39;40;18 - 00;39;41;24

CJ

You production team, let.

00;39;41;24 - 00;40;04;23

Big Al

Me tell you something okay. You know, the most hated, part about being an NFL, coach is when they tell you you have to do hard knocks, okay? NFL coaches hate hard knocks. NFL coaches hate hard knocks. Nobody wants to do hard knocks okay? Why?

00;40;04;25 - 00;40;05;29

CJ

Why do they do it?

00;40;06;01 - 00;40;07;18

Big Al

Because the league makes them.

00;40;07;18 - 00;40;08;29

CJ

Why do why do the league make them.

00;40;08;29 - 00;40;21;23

Big Al

Because they don't make the playoffs. In the end I think it's I think it's something like you don't make the playoffs in the last two playoff seasons. Something like that. And you were it's a formula. It's a whole formula.

00;40;21;23 - 00;40;23;23

CJ

But why do the league make them do it?

00;40;24;00 - 00;40;29;22

Big Al

The league makes them do it because they're in the bottom half of teams like you don't.

00;40;29;22 - 00;40;35;17

CJ

See I'm not I'm not talking about how are they selected. I'm saying why are they why do they make them do it. Why.

00;40;35;19 - 00;40;40;08

Big Al

Because because because because NFL fans are thirsty for it.

00;40;40;11 - 00;40;42;20

CJ

And what does that mean. You give you feed the NFL.

00;40;42;21 - 00;40;43;10

Big Al

But I'm telling you.

00;40;43;10 - 00;40;44;17

CJ

Fans what that there's I'm not. No.

00;40;44;17 - 00;40;53;05

Big Al

But you do it in a more structured way. When the when you can you can have some oversight of how you how it's cut and how it's produced.

00;40;53;05 - 00;40;54;06

CJ

I totally understand.

00;40;54;10 - 00;40;59;09

Big Al

But I'm just telling you, when you do it on your own, you can't, you know, you don't have those same controls.

00;40;59;09 - 00;41;20;19

CJ

Listen, I it's so interesting, man, because I totally understand what you're saying. They do it because it drives interest in revenue. Yes, yes, yes. So that's why they do it. And I for the league for the league. And I will tell you this, I mean, it obviously heightens a profile could work for the individual players as well. But I'll tell you this as well.

00;41;20;26 - 00;41;47;04

CJ

There are 1415 teams. All the stuff we're talking about fan interest, the generation of revenue. There are 14 or 15 teams in the national Football League right now who wish they had a sadder Sanders in their locker room, because I don't I haven't seen the ratings. I guarantee you there's never been higher ratings for two, 2 or 9 teams playing a game in the National Football League.

00;41;47;10 - 00;42;05;19

CJ

And what does that generate interest in revenue. The Cleveland Browns play a home game next week against the San Francisco 40 Niners. I'm looking forward to that game being in prime time only because of one guy. You look at all the number 12 Browns jerseys in that stadium and beyond. Here's the other thing. It's not just Cleveland fans.

00;42;05;19 - 00;42;21;28

CJ

There's a national interest in following in this kid. And again, not just something given he people forget he was a dad. He was a hell I think the best quarterback in the country last year. It's not like he's getting what he's getting because his dad is prime. Who bought out.

00;42;21;28 - 00;42;23;29

Big Al

Well, what is that? What does that have to do with anything?

00;42;23;29 - 00;42;32;21

CJ

Well, I mean, listen, everything you're talking about has something to do with his dad. Everything that you're talking about, the production, the production team.

00;42;32;22 - 00;42;36;15

Big Al

Did you like Billy? Like, did you like the fact that his dad was in the building in the first? For the first.

00;42;36;15 - 00;42;55;24

CJ

Game, I didn't mind, I didn't mind, I didn't mind, by the way, what what al is talking about, for those who may not, may not have called it Coach Prime. Now, again, let's put this in context. See who plays on Saturday night. They lose the Arizona State 4217 right now sporting what what do we 13 oh I'm sorry a three and eight record.

00;42;55;27 - 00;43;20;25

CJ

One game left. Sunday afternoon. While the Cleveland Browns are playing the Las Vegas Raiders. Coach Prime is in attendance to see his son play his first, NFL game as a starting quarterback. I anticipated that some people would have qualms with that. And you ask the question, I'll ask you, did you have a problem with it?

00;43;20;28 - 00;43;44;18

Big Al

As a dad. As a dad? No, no, that was that was. No, that was that was a fantastic moment for the Sanders family, for, him to be able to be there to to see it all the way through from the time that he picked up a football, since he was a, a kid until, his time playing in middle school and then his head coach was his dad, then he goes to college.

00;43;44;18 - 00;43;58;25

Big Al

His head coach is that he, he goes from Jackson State to Colorado. His dad is the head coach, and then he plays and starts in his first game as a dad. That's, that's a that's a fantastic that's a fantastic moment for the Sanders fan.

00;43;58;25 - 00;44;00;12

CJ

So you had no problem with it.

00;44;00;15 - 00;44;22;11

Big Al

But as a Colorado fan, as a Colorado fan, I got to say that I don't believe that there is a head coach that is part of college football or has been part of college football, that would have made that decision to make that journey, to go see that play in the first college football, first professional football game.

00;44;22;11 - 00;44;23;02

CJ

You don't think that's a.

00;44;23;03 - 00;44;47;20

Big Al

I want to say this again. I want to say it clearly and clean. As a Colorado fan, I want to say it like this. Looking at big time football, I don't believe there is a college football coach that would have made the decision during the season to leave his college football team, to go and watch his son play in his first game.

00;44;47;23 - 00;44;51;23

Big Al

I don't believe that happens any other place except at the University of Colorado.

00;44;52;00 - 00;44;53;20

CJ

I couldn't disagree with you more.

00;44;53;21 - 00;44;57;13

Big Al

I think, C.J., I challenge you, I challenge.

00;44;57;13 - 00;44;58;24

CJ

You, I know I'm to.

00;44;58;24 - 00;45;03;21

Big Al

Challenge you to find another example of where that would happen and where it would be.

00;45;03;21 - 00;45;15;13

CJ

Okay, listen, first of all, it's probably quite, quite rare that a D1 power four football coach has a kid that's going to start.

00;45;15;15 - 00;45;18;19

Big Al

Give me like Jackie, I'll win. John Elway.

00;45;18;22 - 00;45;29;13

CJ

A powerful head football coach okay. We're talking about that has a son that's going to start in the National Football League. I'm not certain I've off the top of my head.

00;45;29;16 - 00;45;32;25

Big Al

Start, start. You may start in college football.

00;45;32;28 - 00;45;34;27

CJ

No no no no no start start.

00;45;34;29 - 00;45;36;16

Big Al

Say this correctly again please. Okay.

00;45;36;23 - 00;46;07;26

CJ

Let me say it again. I'd be hard pressed to find a scenario where a college powerful head football coach that gets all the recognition and notoriety that they do, has a son who is starting an NFL football game as a quarterback for the first time, that that scenario in and of itself is extremely unique there. If if if five, I don't know how many they are, if any.

00;46;07;28 - 00;46;14;16

CJ

So first of all, this is a very unique scenario. Now you said two things. You kind of split the baby on this. And I'm gonna need you to.

00;46;14;18 - 00;46;18;06

Big Al

Explain the baby. I said it was a fantastic deal for the Sanders family.

00;46;18;08 - 00;46;22;04

CJ

But what takes precedent, then, for you? Because I want you to take a position.

00;46;22;09 - 00;46;23;08

Big Al

Who's who are you asking me?

00;46;23;08 - 00;46;35;26

CJ

Is I'm asking you as Alfred Williams. You are two things. You are both a dad, and I see you fan. You're conflicted. You see it as a dad and as the most wonderful thing on earth. But as a separate dad.

00;46;35;27 - 00;46;49;19

Big Al

There have been several dads that have had to, miss work and watched their kid play, on television, you know, via, you know, just just just watching it with the rest of the family back at home. And it's been several.

00;46;49;19 - 00;46;50;12

CJ

And I would imagine.

00;46;50;13 - 00;47;07;00

Big Al

There have been several that have made games different. Would that have made games? Yes, because they were held on a Sunday and maybe they could get back out on a Sunday night or Monday morning. But to say that you're the head football coach and you're in that situation, I just don't believe that there are many coaches like that.

00;47;07;02 - 00;47;20;12

Big Al

That would have made that decision. And I can't, I can't imagine, I can't imagine first of all, I have to talk about Sunday is Sunday and it is it is Sunday and an important day in the college football program.

00;47;20;12 - 00;47;22;25

CJ

Well, for us, Sunday was an off day.

00;47;22;25 - 00;47;29;24

Big Al

No, no, I'm not talking about as a player. I'm asking you as a coach and and administration is Sunday, an important day.

00;47;29;26 - 00;47;35;04

CJ

Listen, I, I don't know, different programs, as you know.

00;47;35;07 - 00;47;37;14

Big Al

A win week this Sunday is a throw away day, I don't know.

00;47;37;15 - 00;47;43;26

CJ

My guess is it's an evaluation day that's always. Okay.

00;47;43;28 - 00;47;46;00

Big Al

I'm asking you. I'm asking you. Is it a throwaway day?

00;47;46;01 - 00;47;48;21

CJ

As I said, it's probably different for different programs.

00;47;48;21 - 00;47;49;27

Big Al

Is it a throwaway day?

00;47;49;27 - 00;47;51;23

CJ

No, I don't think there are any throwaway days.

00;47;51;23 - 00;47;56;29

Big Al

So you took, work day and you threw it away.

00;47;57;01 - 00;47;58;14

CJ

Why? Why do you say he threw it away?

00;47;58;15 - 00;48;00;22

Big Al

Well, he he wasn't working for it.

00;48;00;22 - 00;48;02;10

CJ

Well, here, here's here's the deal.

00;48;02;17 - 00;48;03;06

Big Al

How does that work?

00;48;03;06 - 00;48;32;29

CJ

I'm going to tell you exactly how it works, how it likely worked. He got up Sunday morning, probably got on the plane at 1:00 in the afternoon. Went to see his kid play. That game ended at about 5:00 Mountain Standard Time and he was home by seven. That's probably exactly how that worked. Now, again, I think your point is you speak to.

00;48;33;01 - 00;48;34;15

Big Al

Tell me what my well, you know, I know.

00;48;34;16 - 00;48;42;17

CJ

My point. Well, I said, I think your point is you can agree or disagree with it. When I dropped this on you, your point is you think the optics weren't right.

00;48;42;18 - 00;48;43;07

Big Al

The optics.

00;48;43;07 - 00;49;01;21

CJ

You're not right. You're not speaking to the substance. You're speaking to the optics. And I hear you. You can people can have different opinions about it. I get it. There are no right or wrong in this. But I'm saying, listen, man, you're in an argument with yourself. Daddy versus fan. I'm not, but I'm not, I'm not, I'm not, I'm not.

00;49;01;21 - 00;49;06;22

Big Al

I'm not an in argument because I see you season is over tomorrow. Well, next week.

00;49;06;22 - 00;49;07;10

CJ

Right.

00;49;07;13 - 00;49;18;03

Big Al

It's over after this Saturday at 2 p.m.. That's right. Okay. That the season is over. And so the rest of your fandom could happen on Sunday.

00;49;18;03 - 00;49;21;03

CJ

So you have a problem with. I have a problem. Okay. All right. I mean that's fine.

00;49;21;03 - 00;49;44;09

Big Al

That's a problem I have a problem with it from maybe just because, I know what this is. I know what this is to. And guys have man, we have some friends that are working their asses off right now to get in the situation, like coach Prime has. And they would never think about doing something like that.

00;49;44;09 - 00;49;55;16

CJ

I'd be hard. But listen, I'm not going to say what some other parent would never do. And I know you and I know how much you love those boys and that girl. And here's what I would tell you.

00;49;55;17 - 00;49;56;16

Big Al

You know what I would have said?

00;49;56;17 - 00;50;07;10

CJ

I know you in the in the moment. Your ass would have been on a plane and you would have went, wow, no Dominique, no Eric or JT or or, Chris.

00;50;07;10 - 00;50;10;17

Big Al

No, no, that's not what of what? That's not what would have happened.

00;50;10;17 - 00;50;10;26

CJ

I know.

00;50;10;26 - 00;50;39;16

Big Al

Better. No, man. Listen, listen, C.J., this is this is this job right here of being a head football coach at a powerful school. Is a dream job to most people who are in this coaching profession, to say that they would abandon it for, one day during the college football season. I don't believe that many coaches would make that decision.

00;50;39;16 - 00;50;53;09

CJ

See, the language you use is even just it's just extra. He abandoned his job to go watch his kid play a football game. I mean, come on, man, are you really?

00;50;53;12 - 00;50;55;23

Big Al

Yeah, right. Season over right?

00;50;55;26 - 00;50;58;17

CJ

No you ain't, but season's over, right? Yeah.

00;50;58;19 - 00;51;05;21

Big Al

The season's over, right? I mean, no, I mean, why does it matter, right. Why did why does the the preparation matter.

00;51;05;23 - 00;51;10;06

Big Al

Why does it matter anyway man. No no no no. Why does it matter? You tell me why it matters.

00;51;10;06 - 00;51;12;11

CJ

It matters because it's a day of prep.

00;51;12;13 - 00;51;31;27

Big Al

Okay, so how long is the prep? Should we be prepping more? I mean, some of the decisions that were made on game day, you question these decisions all season long. But I guess this Sunday, we won't need that because we're going to play this perfect game against Kansas State.

00;51;31;29 - 00;51;32;14

CJ

Let me ask.

00;51;32;14 - 00;51;34;14

Big Al

You, this upcoming Saturday at 10 a.m., let me.

00;51;34;14 - 00;51;42;05

CJ

Ask you this. Had he gone out fishing from 1 to 5.

00;51;42;06 - 00;51;45;15

Big Al

I probably would have had a problem with it. You would have? Yes.

00;51;45;17 - 00;51;46;25

CJ

Man, you just trippin. You just.

00;51;46;25 - 00;52;02;27

Big Al

I'm not mad. I just I just know I just know what this. I know what this opportunity means for so many men that are involved in this business. And to say that, you know, that you're going to move things around to.

00;52;02;28 - 00;52;04;12

CJ

How do you know he moved anything around?

00;52;04;13 - 00;52;21;16

Big Al

Okay, then I guess I guess my point, I guess we got I guess we got an extra seven hours in the day during the season, you know, to go to, to do what we want. Wow. I just don't I don't I don't agree with the move as, head football coach, but as a dad, you know, but as a dad, I love it as a dad, I love it.

00;52;21;18 - 00;52;24;06

Big Al

That's the football coach. The football coach.

00;52;24;11 - 00;52;25;05

CJ

Just split the what.

00;52;25;05 - 00;52;26;01

Big Al

You're saying, man.

00;52;26;03 - 00;52;30;18

CJ

Happy. And I'm sad at the same time. No no no no. I'm crying. I'm going to laugh. No, no, I'm the same time. So.

00;52;30;18 - 00;52;39;23

Big Al

So I just want to make sure that if this was let's just say this was Auburn or listen, you know they're.

00;52;39;24 - 00;52;40;23

CJ

Having Bama whoever.

00;52;40;24 - 00;52;55;28

Big Al

Not I say let's say Hartman because they're not having a great year there okay. They are on the cusp of possibly making a bowl game. If this was at Auburn and this was the head coach and Deion Sanders was at Auburn, would it still happen like that?

00;52;56;00 - 00;53;19;11

CJ

Oh, I think absolutely. So yeah, here's the thing. I think here's the thing that I've grown to appreciate. Whether you like it or not, he is who he is. And he wears it on his sleeve. And the one thing that Dion is not, and I don't think has ever been, is a guy who's going to do things for the purpose of comforting others, whether it's right or wrong, whether you like it or not.

00;53;19;11 - 00;53;21;09

CJ

I get it, I get it.

00;53;21;11 - 00;53;32;08

Big Al

But then you started the show off saying you started the show off saying that. Coach Prime said that he has to make some coaching decisions to improve the program.

00;53;32;08 - 00;53;32;18

CJ

Yes.

00;53;32;20 - 00;53;35;06

Big Al

Absolutely. Doesn't it? Doesn't it always start with him?

00;53;35;08 - 00;53;36;00

CJ

Absolutely.

00;53;36;02 - 00;53;45;03

Big Al

Okay. So that that was a teaching moment right there for him professionally. That was a teaching moment. Don't don't take the bait and go watch a kid play.

00;53;45;03 - 00;53;45;14

CJ

Wow.

00;53;45;14 - 00;54;02;16

Big Al

Stay with the program. Stay with this moment. Help these kids get through this last game so that we can finish the right way. That's that, that's that, that's my only. That's my only thing that I would tell you that.

00;54;02;19 - 00;54;21;29

Big Al

That that matters to me as a former Colorado buffalo and a guy who really loves this, I love this game. Now, I don't like this game. I don't I don't like this game, man. I love this game. And some of the some of that, some of the best people I know are still involved in this game. And I don't know, not one of them that would have made that decision.

00;54;21;29 - 00;54;37;16

CJ

Let me ask you this. We never practiced on Sundays, right? We didn't come in. We did nothing on Sundays. It was a day off. It was only a day for players to get treatment. If you needed treatment. Right. Do you know what Bill McCartney did on Sundays?

00;54;37;19 - 00;54;39;27

Big Al

Prep for the upcoming week.

00;54;39;29 - 00;54;42;29

CJ

Where? Where?

00;54;43;02 - 00;54;43;23

Big Al

I don't know.

00;54;43;26 - 00;55;03;01

CJ

Well, did you were you upset that you. It wasn't obvious to you? Had he shown up on television? Let's say he did an interview or I got one better for you. He may have been touring churches doing Promise Keepers work on Sunday. Would that have pissed you off as the saying?

00;55;03;03 - 00;55;21;07

Big Al

It depends. If that was the normal, if that was a normal course of business, is that was a if that was a normal course of business that he had, grown accustomed to leading up to that, then I would say that is the way that they do business at the University of Colorado. Well, how do you this is is this is this the way that we do business at the University of Colorado?

00;55;21;07 - 00;55;26;23

CJ

My point is, you don't know how they do business and you're making a judgment on a decision.

00;55;26;23 - 00;55;42;26

Big Al

Just telling you the optics. I'm telling you, that's fine. That's fine. I'm just telling you the optics is that will tell us. So maybe every Sunday, maybe every Sunday for this college football season. He's gotten on a jet, gone somewhere and was gone for seven, 7 to 8 hours and came back.

00;55;42;27 - 00;55;43;29

CJ

That may have been the case.

00;55;44;00 - 00;55;45;27

Big Al

Well, then maybe that has to change.

00;55;45;29 - 00;55;49;24

CJ

But may, may be, may be. But I'm saying because changes has to be made. Right.

00;55;49;24 - 00;55;52;01

Big Al

Do you think they said I didn't said he said it.

00;55;52;01 - 00;56;14;20

CJ

He said it. And I think we all know that. But again, to I think your argument boils down to this optically. You have a problem with this. Yes, that's a yes. Yes you don't. It's kind of this kind of reminds me like I'm watching games with people and it's always interesting to hear people say what teams, man, they shouldn't have run that play or man, why did they do that?

00;56;14;22 - 00;56;30;00

CJ

And I'm saying you have no idea, like what the mindset was because you didn't spend a minute of time in game prep in practice. So we have so limited knowledge of what actually goes on. But yet we make definitive.

00;56;30;03 - 00;56;49;16

Big Al

This is this is a new this is a new style of coaching. It's a new style of management in college football. This is, this is this is this is this is, you know, for the most part, man, I've just kind of roll with everything because I just needed to I needed to work at the I I'm not going to lie to you.

00;56;49;16 - 00;57;14;15

Big Al

I just needed to work with. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm all in for, a great day for the University of Colorado. I want I want those kids that wear that uniform to have fantastic days and and even better futures after they're done and I, I just, I, I've, I've bit my tongue on a lot of this shit and then some of it, I just said, man, this is, this is unique.

00;57;14;17 - 00;57;38;09

Big Al

Like, this is, you know, like, this is out of, how this out of character for the position and or this is and and I just said, okay, it's just how they're doing things. I just have to sit up and relax. But that yesterday, man, I just watching it, I was like, man, you should be with the team.

00;57;38;10 - 00;57;57;25

Big Al

Got your ass kicked yesterday. You know, maybe maybe we're having some exit meetings with each one of the seniors. And maybe that did happen. I don't know, like you said, but the same at the same time. The optics of it was the head football coach of the University of Colorado was not with his team. He was with the Raiders.

00;57;57;29 - 00;58;00;26

Big Al

He was with the Browns, with his son watching the football. No, no.

00;58;00;27 - 00;58;02;15

CJ

He wasn't with his team. He was with his son.

00;58;02;17 - 00;58;02;27

Big Al

Okay.

00;58;02;27 - 00;58;04;10

CJ

That's that's okay. I take it from.

00;58;04;11 - 00;58;18;20

Big Al

Okay. Well I, I just, I just, I just not I'm just I'm just letting you know, man, I know this this was during the season though, you know, Urban Meyer did some shit like this. And he got fired by the Jacksonville Jaguars at the professional level.

00;58;18;21 - 00;58;19;04

CJ

No he didn't.

00;58;19;07 - 00;58;24;01

Big Al

He stayed back. He stayed back away from no. No he wasn't with the team as the bottom line.

00;58;24;01 - 00;58;25;12

CJ

He was hanging out with.

00;58;25;15 - 00;58;28;24

Big Al

He was hanging out with a coed in Columbus. But it's it's.

00;58;28;26 - 00;58;29;24

CJ

That's a I don't I don't.

00;58;29;24 - 00;58;33;24

Big Al

Care I don't care about that. But the fact that he didn't travel back with the team, it's.

00;58;33;24 - 00;58;36;17

CJ

Probably not why he got fired, but that's besides it.

00;58;36;18 - 00;58;37;21

Big Al

He didn't travel back with the team.

00;58;37;22 - 00;58;38;21

CJ

That's besides the point.

00;58;38;21 - 00;58;45;10

Big Al

He didn't drop back with the team. Nobody that's a head football coach doesn't travel back with a team this this year.

00;58;45;11 - 00;58;45;19

CJ

And I.

00;58;45;19 - 00;58;54;29

Big Al

Have never seen a head football coach go and support his kid while he was playing at the NFL.

00;58;54;29 - 00;59;04;29

CJ

Level. Once again, this is such an improbable, unusual circumstance that it's not a surprise that you haven't seen it. It doesn't matter. Does doesn't make it okay.

00;59;05;02 - 00;59;06;03

Big Al

Does it make it okay?

00;59;06;06 - 00;59;06;29

CJ

Here's my deal.

00;59;07;02 - 00;59;10;06

Big Al

Does it make it okay? I just need, I need, I need, I need I can answer from you.

00;59;10;06 - 00;59;11;07

CJ

I think it's okay.

00;59;11;08 - 00;59;11;21

Big Al

Okay.

00;59;11;21 - 00;59;20;09

CJ

And I think there's room for people like you to disagree with me and say I have a different opinion, but I don't want to get holier than thou on it and say that.

00;59;20;11 - 00;59;25;06

Big Al

Wait a minute, bro. I'm not holier than thou. It was just it was just like, man, okay, a lot of this.

00;59;25;07 - 00;59;27;16

CJ

Like, yeah, you feel some kind of I feel.

00;59;27;16 - 00;59;34;11

Big Al

Some kind of way, bro. You know what I'm saying? Like, I'm like, I'm hurting for all these kids that didn't have the season that they should have had.

00;59;34;11 - 00;59;35;03

CJ

Hey, listen, man, I'm.

00;59;35;03 - 00;59;36;20

Big Al

Hurting for him. I'm here. But this.

00;59;36;20 - 00;59;45;15

CJ

Issue. I understand your point. I'm right there with you. I'm hurting for him as well. And I don't know that what we saw yesterday is out of school or out of.

00;59;45;15 - 00;59;47;07

Big Al

Was that good for the University of Colorado?

00;59;47;08 - 00;59;57;06

CJ

Maybe it may, it may, it may have been some great five star athletes out there looking at that saying, man, that's Coach Prime, I want, I want, I wouldn't, I wouldn't want to.

00;59;57;09 - 00;59;59;00

Big Al

Go to Travis Hunter first game then.

00;59;59;00 - 01;00;00;10

CJ

Oh my God man, come.

01;00;00;10 - 01;00;20;17

Big Al

On. I'm just saying I'm just saying if it's good for the listen man. All I'm saying is this. Okay, can I get to Thanksgiving? Hold on man, for the most part. For the most part, what Coach Prime is brought to the University of Colorado has been lovely because he's brought revenue, he's brought cameras, he brought attention to, the brand again.

01;00;20;17 - 01;00;50;15

Big Al

And it had been tarnished for so long. But you got to remember my point of view and my perspective, and it's old one. And I get that. And it happened decades ago, but the last game that I played in was a national championship. That's the way I left the university. Okay, so every time I see the university, I think that they're trying to get back to that and maybe they are, but every attempt that I see from the athletic department has to be going in that same direction.

01;00;50;15 - 01;00;52;00

Big Al

And I'm not sure it always is.

01;00;52;00 - 01;00;58;17

CJ

Well, here's what I'd say. The way you left off the field, the way we left off the field. Yeah. Right in Miami.

01;00;58;17 - 01;00;59;09

Big Al

Yes.

01;00;59;12 - 01;01;03;02

CJ

Has only happened one time in a history, but it's been. But it.

01;01;03;02 - 01;01;13;23

Big Al

Happened twice, but it happened twice for us. And we understand the commitment of the men that were part of that program. Those men, we became head coaches, they became athletic directors.

01;01;13;23 - 01;01;29;01

CJ

And to the point and to the point of, well, here's I say to the point of this conversation, we had no idea what Bill McCartney did on Sundays, because we didn't we were never there. And so I don't want to be late. Let's move on from that real quick, man, because we got to get out of here Thanksgiving.

01;01;29;01 - 01;01;36;23

CJ

What are you staples, man? What are your staples again? When the best cooks when the best home cooks I've ever seen.

01;01;36;26 - 01;01;55;13

Big Al

You know. You know, the thing that I the thing I always go for is a couple turkeys. Okay. Got to go have a couple turkeys. You got have one smoke. Got to have one fry. Okay. You got to have a ham that's glazed. You got to have, you know, we try to do one beef, you know, this brisket going to be a brisket.

01;01;55;16 - 01;02;13;00

Big Al

Okay. This year, we also got a couple slabs of ribs. Since we got a brisket. Might as well make some ribs. It might as well. Might as well. I mean, you got. No, I mean, the briskets not going to take the whole pit up. So we might as well do a couple slabs of ribs on it. And then of course the mac and cheese and the greens and, and you know.

01;02;13;00 - 01;02;13;11

CJ

Yeah. Ready.

01;02;13;14 - 01;02;18;25

Big Al

Rice got out of here. Got to get. Yeah. Got the yams and the dirty rice. And it's going to be it's going to be lovely.

01;02;18;25 - 01;02;36;03

CJ

Now one thing I know I'm with you I think you list we are lists are consistent. I'm not so big on a turkey, but I do it like a turkey, either fried or smoked. There's one thing. Or let me ask you, is there one thing? First of all, I don't like people bringing stuff to my crib for Thanksgiving.

01;02;36;03 - 01;02;59;17

CJ

I don't want no, it's not a potluck. I'm setting it up. I'm not. Don't bring you whatever the hell you bring in. The other thing is, this sweet potato pie is not pumpkin pie. Don't bring the pumpkin pie. I want that. And cornbread dressing is not stuffing. Keep the stuffing in the box at King Soopers. I'm all about that cornbread dressing.

01;02;59;17 - 01;03;18;22

CJ

You cook that cornbread, you dry that thing out and you make that cornbread dressing. And so those two things I must but there's one thing that cannot show up at my house. I grew up with it, but it cannot show up at my house with any form of fashion. My brother made a mistake of walking in with the bowl of it one time, and, we had a problem.

01;03;18;25 - 01;03;21;20

CJ

Any idea what that is?

01;03;21;22 - 01;03;30;15

Big Al

Food that he walked in. You had a problem with? A bowl of. It had to have been.

01;03;30;17 - 01;03;36;01

Big Al

Golly. Oh, no. I don't see, like, potato salad.

01;03;36;05 - 01;03;54;26

CJ

Oh, you cannot bring chitlins in. Oh, bring. You cannot bring chitlins in the crib. No no no no no no no. And here's the thing. I grew up eating chitlins. I, you know, eat them on special days, maybe twice a year. Oh, I just can't do it anymore. I'm in my, at my age, chitlins. No. No.

01;03;54;28 - 01;04;08;17

Big Al

Do. Well, we don't do those in our house. Yeah, but but, my mom used to eat them, but, I'll tell you the, but the must have if we had to do a draft. What's the first pick in the Thanksgiving draft?

01;04;08;18 - 01;04;12;27

CJ

Ooh, let's let's take the turkey. Let's take the protein.

01;04;13;00 - 01;04;16;17

Big Al

You got to go. You got to go. You got to. You say. You got to say, first pick.

01;04;16;19 - 01;04;18;21

CJ

All right, my first pick.

01;04;18;23 - 01;04;23;19

Big Al

Now this is the win. Not not the not that you like, but I'm just saying, in America, what's the first pick?

01;04;23;20 - 01;04;24;10

CJ

Oh the turkey.

01;04;24;17 - 01;04;25;02

Big Al

Okay.

01;04;25;02 - 01;04;25;29

CJ

The turkey, no doubt.

01;04;26;00 - 01;04;29;18

Big Al

What? You you had the first pick. I'll take the second pick. I'll take the ham.

01;04;29;21 - 01;04;36;22

CJ

See, I think I think the ham is like the fullback where it's becoming obsolete in the league.

01;04;36;27 - 01;04;38;12

Big Al

Okay, well, what's the third pick?

01;04;38;12 - 01;04;40;11

CJ

The brisket, I think is the.

01;04;40;17 - 01;04;49;00

Big Al

It would be the same. No no no no no no no. What what's what's what in America. What's the first pick. It's the turkey. Right. I'm saying the second pick is the ham okay.

01;04;49;00 - 01;04;55;02

CJ

And I'm going if that's the case we got two proteins. The third pick, it's the macaroni and cheese, man.

01;04;55;04 - 01;05;08;11

Big Al

No, no. Okay, you got the third pick as a mac and cheese. I'm. I'm going to make this right. The third pick should have been the mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes should have been the third pick, but they're the fourth pick.

01;05;08;11 - 01;05;19;18

CJ

It's interesting because they're not necessarily even on my list, Mac. But you're saying for America, you're right. Mac and cheese. Not a lot of people do mac and cheese, you know, unless, you know, I think that's okay.

01;05;19;20 - 01;05;22;01

Big Al

Okay. What's the fifth pick?

01;05;22;01 - 01;05;25;05

CJ

The fifth pick?

01;05;25;08 - 01;05;28;15

CJ

I think it's, well, in my career, I can only speak for one.

01;05;28;16 - 01;05;29;27

Big Al

Yeah, yeah, yeah, well, you gotta, you gotta, I gotta.

01;05;29;27 - 01;05;33;14

CJ

Have, I gotta have some collard greens, bro. You gotta have some grain.

01;05;33;15 - 01;05;41;21

Big Al

That's not really that. That's not really the fifth pick, was there I go with the sixth pick as the green bean casserole.

01;05;41;23 - 01;05;45;18

CJ

See. Yeah. Well by the way McHale is bringing the green bean casserole.

01;05;45;20 - 01;05;46;19

Big Al

There you go. There's the only.

01;05;46;19 - 01;05;49;11

CJ

One who could bring anything in the crib.

01;05;49;13 - 01;05;50;26

Big Al

Oh, seven. Pig man. Give me the.

01;05;50;26 - 01;05;52;01

CJ

Sims.

01;05;52;03 - 01;06;02;15

Big Al

Candied yams. I'm going to go with America's Pick. Pumpkin pie. Oh, not my pick. Party's over.

01;06;02;17 - 01;06;06;04

CJ

The party's over. There goes the neighborhood. Hey,

01;06;06;06 - 01;06;11;01

Big Al

It's not my pick, by the way. The eighth pick. We got to get the ten. We got to get picked. Okay, give me the ninth pick.

01;06;11;04 - 01;06;15;13

CJ

Ninth pick. Let's. Oh, I I'm gonna tell you what it is. And this is this is a staple.

01;06;15;16 - 01;06;15;28

Big Al

Okay?

01;06;15;28 - 01;06;19;13

CJ

I got to have, like, real cranberry sauce, bro. I got.

01;06;19;20 - 01;06;20;28

Big Al

Berry sauce. That's good.

01;06;21;02 - 01;06;29;25

CJ

I can't have the stuff in the can at you slice. I got have like real cranberry. It's like the glue. It's like the mortar between the Brittany.

01;06;30;00 - 01;06;34;05
